PrpBank

Audition

Audition controls auditioning from Bank Windows. When this item is checked, selecting a Patch in a Bank will automatically audition that Patch to the instrument. This provides the quickest and easiest way to try out various Patches determine which one is best suited to the current piece of music. To audition with a chord, select "Chord" or to audition with a sequence, choose "Sequence". To audition the SysEx and not play a chord or sequence, choose "SysEx / Patch Change Update Only".

The chord or sequence is defined under the Tones Tab.

Default: On

Keep Backup

Keep Backup, when checked, causes the program to automatically create a backup of each subsequently opened Bank Window. With a backup, any Patch in a Bank can be restored to its pre-edited state.

Default: On

Respond To Patch Changes

When Respond to Patch Changes is checked, a patch change command can be used to audition patches in a bank. Any time a patch change is received by the software, it will check each Bank Window. If a Bank Window is auditioning on that channel then the software will use the patch change number to select and audition the patch. This feature allows for the remote selection and auditioning of patches.

For example, a patch change command of MIDI Channel 2, patch 20 is received. The program finds that the M1 is auditioning on MIDI Channel 2. The program automatically auditions patch 20.

Default: Off

Use Parent/Child Relations

When checked, Bank editing in a Set or Collection utilizes sophisticated parent/child information to ensure that these relationships are maintained.

Default: On

Edit Patch using Patch Number

Where ever possible Midi Quest uses the instruments temporary edit buffer to edit patches. In some cases, instruments do not have a temporary buffer and a particular memory location must be used for editing. When this option is off (unchecked, default), Midi Quest will use the memory location specified by the custom parameter for the component as assigned in the Studio. If this option is enabled then Midi Quest's behavior changes so that the location of the selected patch is used to define the editing location. If the first patch is selected to edit, it will be edited in the first memory slot on the instrument. If the 15th patch is selected for editing, it is edited in the 15th memory location. This will work well as long as the patch bank in Midi Quest is the same as the patch bank in the instrument.

Default: Off

Save Current Patch Edits with Bank

Midi Quest Only

When a Bank is loaded by itself and you choose to edit a patch within that bank, the window is split and the patch appears on the right hand side for editing. In fact the patch is taken right out of the bank and is edited using a temporary memory location.

In order to save edits made to the patch there are two choices. If this option is checked, the edited patch is automatically copied out of its temporary location and stored in the bank overwriting the stored patch. This is the way to ensure that all edits are saved (at the price of having the original patch stored in the bank).

The alternative is to leave this option turned off. In this case, selecting File/Save or Save As... to save the bank will not save the patch currently being edited. In order to save the edits in this patch you will have to do one or two things; either select a new patch for editing or close the editor window. Both options force a save of the currently edited patch back into the bank. The updates can then be safely saved.

Default: On

Show Info View

Midi Quest and Midi Quest Pro Only

Select whether Bank editors are created with the Info View or not. When enabled, the Info View is only created for Bank editors in Sets. There are three options: Off - the Info View is never displayed, On - the Info View is always displayed, and Parent/Child only - the Info View is only displayed for MIDI devices utilizing active Parent/Child management. For more information on the Info View, click here.

The Info View is not displayed in custom layout editors (Korg Kronos, Korg Nautilus, most Psicraft editors), as the these editors are specifically designed to not include this display.

Default: Instruments using Parent/Child only

Drag and Drop (Int)

The action of dragging and dropping a patch within the same bank (internal) can be handled in one of three ways: swapping, pasting, or inserting.

Swap: the patches in the source and destination patch positions are swapped

Paste: the source patch overwrites the destination patch

Insert: the source patch is inserted at the bank position where the mouse button was released. The insertion is done in such a way that no patches are lost in the bank.

Default: Swap

Drag and Drop (Ext)

The action of dragging and dropping a patch from one bank to another (external) can be handled in one of two ways: pasting or inserting

Paste: the source patch overwrites the destination patch

Insert: the source patch is inserted at the bank position where the mouse button was released. All patches in the destination bank from the drop position to the end of the bank move down one position. The last patch in the bank is lost.
