Compare... (SysEx Window)
Purpose:
The compare function is used to load a second Midi Quest SysEx file into the window. The window expands to show both files and highlights the bytes which are different in the two files.
This feature is ideal for finding where a parameter is stored in SysEx. To compare files, do the following...
To create the graphic above,
| • | the current Korg 01/W Drum setup was loaded from the instrument and saved to disk |
| • | the parameter whose location was to be found was edited on the instrument |
| • | the voice was then loaded from the instrument into a SysEx Window |
| • | finally, SysEx/Compare... was chosen from the menus and the original file selected |
The result, is a side-by-side comparison of the two files. With the edited version on the left and the original version on the right. Byte 8 is highlighted in red showing that this was the parameter that was changed by the instrument edit.
This SysEx Window can easily show all of the differences between two SysEx files.
Directions:
To load a second SysEx file to compare with the currently loaded SysEx:
| 1. | Choose SysEx/Compare... |
| 2. | Use the displayed file selector to choose the file to compare with |
| 3. | Press the OK |
