Manually Creating Plug-ins

If Midi Quest is unable to automatically create plug-ins, the following instructions can be used to create Midi Quest plug-ins in the correct locations so that host DAWs can find them.

Windows Manual Plug-in Installation

If the plug-in installation process fails in Windows, please report the issue to Sound Quest so it can be addressed. However, it is possible to install plug-ins manually so it is possible to create the plug-ins yourself.

1. Go to the folder where Midi Quest Pro is installed. This is typically c:\Program Files\Sound Quest\Midi Quest 13 Pro\Win64. This is where the source plug-ins are located.

VST3: MidiQuestVST3.vst3

VST2: MidiQuestVSTi.dll

AAX: MidiQuestAAX.aaxplugin

2. Copy the appropriate plug-in and paste it into the directory for its plug-in type. The default directory locations are:

VST3: c:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3

VST2: c:\Program Files\Vstplugins

AAX: c:\Program Files\Common Files\Avid\Audio

3. For VST3 and VST2, rename the copied file to the instrument name. A VST3 for the Korg Kronos would be "Korg Kronos.vst3".

important! In most cases the instrument name on disk is the same as displayed in the Studio window (eg Korg Kronos). In a small number of cases where the name uses OS sensitive characters such as "/", you must use the file name and not the name displayed in the Studio window. For example, the 01/w as displayed in the Studio window is "Korg 01/W" but the instrument name on disk is "Korg 01-W". The plug-in must also be named "Korg 01-W" in order for it to function correctly.

4. Run the host to use the new plugin.

Mac Manual Plug-in Installation

If the plug-in installation process fails on the Mac, please report the issue to Sound Quest so it can be addressed. However, it is possible to install plug-ins manually so it is possible to create the plug-ins yourself.

1. Go to the folder where the Midi Quest plug-ins are located. On the drive, this should be in /Library/Application Support/Sound Quest/MidiQuestPro/v13.

VST3: MidiQuestVST3.vst3

AAX: MidiQuestAAX.aaxplugin

2. Copy the appropriate plug-in and paste it into the directory for its plug-in type. The default directory locations are:

VST3: /Users/<username>/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/VST3

VST2: /Users/<username>/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/VST

AAX: /Library/Application Support/Avid/Audio/Plug-ins
