IconEdit Store In (Editor Window)

Purpose:

This option only found in the Editor Window context menu (accessed using a right click) and only appears when working with Banks and Patches within a Set. It is used to store an edited Patch to a location in a compatible bank in the Set.

Double clicking on a Patch in a Bank opens the Patch in the appropriate parameter editor in the Set so it can be edited. While editing the Patch, no changes are made to the bank. At any time, the current edited state of the Patch can be saved to a location in a compatible bank by right clicking on an open space in the editor to display the pop-up context menu. Choose Store In... from the menu and use the displayed dialog to select a bank (where there are multiple banks) and a memory location to store the Patch.

Option: Holding down the CTRL key while choosing Store In from the Editor menu will both store the Patch to the selected location in the bank (as described above) and store the updated Patch to the instrument. (note: for this option to work correctly, the instrument must support individually addressable bank locations. For those instruments that require the entire bank be sent to update a single Patch, this option is ignored)

Directions:

To save the current edited state of a Patch to a bank in the Set,

1.Choose Editor/Store In...
2.Use the Store In dialog to select a location to store the Patch
3.Click Store to Destination to store the Patch

The Store In Dialog

Ed-StoreIn

The Store In dialog is used to select a location to store the Patch currently being edited into a bank location.

Destination Bank

If there is more than one bank in the Set which is capable of storing the Patch, the Destination bank selector will be visible with a list of available banks. Use the selector to choose the bank to store the Patch in.

Destination Location

Once a destination bank has been selected (if available), select the location in that bank to store the Patch.

Store To Destination

Press this button to store the Patch to the bank.

Store In Preferences

This dialog also displays the current Preferences Store In setting. This selection determines how a Midi Quest editor handles a new request to edit a Patch when one is already being edited.

Manual Store - when selected, Midi Quest will ask you whether you want the current Patch to be stored or discarded before editing the next Patch
Automatically Store to Original Location on New Edit - will automatically store the Patch currently being edited back to its source location before editing the next Patch
Automatically Discard Edits Unless Manually Saved - will automatically discard the Patch currently being edited when a different Patch requires editing. All edits will automatically be lost unless you have manually stored the Patch before selecting a different Patch for editing.
