Collection Contents (Collection Window)

The Collection can hold up to 37,000 entries (limited only by available RAM).

Each element in a collection represents a SysEx component that can be dragged and dropped between the Collection and other windows in the program. For more information, please see Dragging and Dropping.

Individual entries in the Collection can be reordered by following these steps:

Each Collection element is shown as a row in the Collection and displays the following information for the SysEx: Name, Type, SysEx Channel, Port Out, Date, File Size, Tag 1, Tag 2, Tag 3, Tag 4, Comments, and Properties. On Window, the first column will also show a disk icon if the entry is linked to a disk file instead of actually being stored in the Collection.

A Set can also be an element of a Collection allowing multiple Sets to be stored in a single location for a system wide setup file. When a Set is stored in a Collection, the Name entry will be the type of Set, SysEx channel, Port Out, Date, and File Size contain relevant information for the Set. All other entries remain blank and must be accessed from within the Set.

If a Bank is stored in a collection, the parameters displayed (keys, comments, and properties) are those assigned to the first patch. Properties can be assigned individually to each Patch in a bank using the Settings dialog in the Bank editor.

Link

The Windows version will show a disk link icon if the row contains a disk linked file. Disk linked files are references in the Collection to other Sound Quest SysEx files stored on disk. These files are only referenced by the Collection and are not actually stored in the Collection. This allows any Collection, Set, or Library to have access to the same Patches and Banks. Any changes to the disk based SysEx will also be reflected in the Collections, Sets and Libraries that have links to the source SysEx. All of the text in the row will appear in blue instead of black. There is no support for linking a Set to a collection.

Name

The Name column displays the name assigned to the Collection element.

If the element is a Set, the name will always be the name of the instrument (eg. Korg Kronos v2 Set)

If the element is an individual Patch and that Patch has a name stored within the SysEx, that name is displayed. Editing the name from the Collection will also edit the name within the Patch.

For other types of SysEx such as as Banks and individual Patches which don't have a name stored within their SysEx, if the element has already been named when the SysEx is added to the Collection that name will be retained. If the SysEx is loaded directly from the instrument into the Collection or is still named "New", the program will create a name for the SysEx based on the name of the component it was loaded with. The name can be changed in the Settings Dialog. Select the element and choose the Settings button.

SysEx Type

The Type column shows the type of SysEx. For example, a Korg M1 Patch Bank. The Data Type parameter is not editable and is meant to give a visual indication of the different types of SysEx contained within the Collection. This makes it easy to spot different types of SysEx from specific instruments.

SysEx Channel

The SysEx column shows the current SysEx Channel setting for the component. The SysEx parameter can be changed using the Settings Dialog.

Port Out

The Port Out column shows which MIDI OUT Port the SysEx will be transmitted on. The Port Out parameter can be changed using the Settings Dialog.

Date

The Date column shows the date the SysEx was created or last edited. The Date parameter can not be edited but will change each time the SysEx is edited.

File Size

The File Size column shows the size of the SysEx stored within the Collection. The File Size parameter can not be edited and is included for information purposes only.

Tag 1

The first of eight tags assigned to the SysEX. Edit by selecting the SysEx and press the Settings button.

Tag 2

The second of eight tags assigned to the SysEx. Edit by selecting the SysEx and press the Settings button.

Tag 3

The third of eight tags assigned to the SysEx. Edit by selecting the SysEx and press the Settings button.

Tag 4

The fourth of eight tags assigned to the SysEx. Edit by selecting the SysEx and press the Settings button.

Comments

Display the comments assigned to the SysEx. Edit by selecting the SysEx and press the Settings button.
